PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (aka PUBG) the biggest battle royal game of all time is going to be a Free to Play game from January 10, 2022.

Krafton announced this at The Game Awards 2021 and called it the next evolution of PUBG: Battlegrounds. PUBG is a game that inspired a whole new genre and forced big companies like Blizzard and Epic to dive into the battle royal.

PUBG created a massive community of players and led to an era where hundreds of Esports players rose to fame. This also presented an opportunity for companies like Activision and Epic games who came up with their own battle royal titles because the community was there.

How to get PUBG for free

It’s official now that PUBG is going to be free. However, if you don’t already own the game then you’ll have to pay for a one-time optional account upgrade called Battlegrounds Plus for $12.99 which unlocks Ranked and Custom matches and some in-game items.
If you already own the game then you don’t have to pay for the account upgrade and are eligible for PUBG Special Commemorative Pack which includes Battlegrounds Plus and some in-game rewards.

How to Pre-Register for PUBG free to play

Head over to PUBG’s official webpage.
Now look for the ” Sign in and Pre-Register” button and click on it.
Log in to your Krafton account or create a new one if you don’t already have an account.
Now you will have to sync your Krafton account with a platform account like Steam, PSN, or Xbox.
When the game releases as free-to-play you will have to log in with your Krafton account.
